The Golfers that came from Darnall golf club had a golfing weekend bonanza – unlimited golf – accommodation and meals. Arriving on Friday lunchtime, they held their Friday 9 hole meat competition, and St Cathryns Club Captain, Fanie van Wyk walked off with the first prize.( St Cathryn’s golfers were invited to play in all the Darnall competitions.)
Friday night the coastal golfers were treated to a braai and on the menu was “Potspruit prawns”, a local delicacy, only found locally here on the farm – Potspruit.
Saturday in the Better Ball competition, Piet Nel and Clint Liebenburg walked off with the spoils with 42 points on a count out from Alan Currie and Riaan Snyman and 3rd Rowan Naidoo and Kevin Bailey. Nearest to pin for two on the 12th Rajen Naidoo.
On Sunday after a very slow start the golfers set off, and Sunday’s competition was a closed one for Darnall only, this was for their private point standings for the tour.
Overall winner for the weekend was Koos Diedericks 74 points
2nd Rajen Naidoo 72 points
3rd Riaan Greef 67 points.
The shot of the day went to Thinus, when on the 7th his ball got in-bedded in the cactus, and some of the suggested rulings were, play it as it lies, cut the cactus down and take a free drop and … many other suggestions!
