A group of lady golfers, some of whom played golf for the very first time, played in the inaugural ladies fun 9 hole golf day at St Cathryn’s on Sunday, 6 March 2022. The fun day was to promote golf to the “golfing widows” who may feel left out when hubby goes to play golf.
The fun day was called “Scramble for scramble”… when all golfers tee-ed off and had to scramble to find their golf balls and were also treated to a croissant and scrambled eggs breakfast with champagne.
The four fourballs were paired with a man golfer. The ladies said they were employed as ball spotters but the organisers placed them in the teams to assist with coaching tips and to take them around the course.
The winning team consisting of Astrid Gifford, team Captain Mariaan van Wyk, Anna Rossouw and Brigitte du Preez.
Other prizes were awarded to:
Best Freshie : Caty Baker
Best tee shot: Samantha Baker
Best shot out of the bush: Brigette du Preez
Best chirper: Stacey Reed
Most improved: Wendy Muller
The fun filled golf day ended with some team members sitting on the deck until sunset.. discussing the fun day in great detail. Some of the ladies were working on a golfing roster as to when they will be making a return to the course, while the men do the motherly chores… making supper, looking after the children, helping with homework etc.
This Saturday 12 March 2022 the Farmers Agri-care monthly mug will be played and the following Saturday, 19 March 2022, the Greytown Child and Youth Care Centre charity golf day. The cost is R250 per player.
