The 6th annual AHEERS Arcadia Golf weekend was held on 21 & 22 March 2020. There were a few changes this year, mainly due to the regulations set down by our President due to COVID-19. The players tee’d off on Saturday at Greytown at 12:00 in brilliant weather with chicken rolls in hand, as the club had to close at 13:00 as it was a public holiday. Extra cool boxes were the order of the day for those who needed refreshments on the course.
The winners of Day One were Vijay Roopai and Owen Naidoo on 43 points. Two other teams were also on 43 points, namely Piet Nel and Fanie v Wyk, as well as Dieter Meyer and Sydney Russell.
The players then played Day Two at St Cathryn’s and with the two leading teams mainly made up of local members, the tussle was on.
Steve vd Merwe and Boy Zuma had a fantastic second day scoring 46 points and therefore winning Day Two.
Consistency was the name of the game with Dieter Meyer and Sydney Russell holding on to win the weekend by 1 point from Fred Bartels and Trevor Kelly. The winning score was 83 points.
A quick prize giving was held at St Cathryn’s as the club had to close at 13:00 again.
